Australian singer-songwriter Julia Jacklin has recorded a cover of Sugar Ray’s 1999 hit “Every Morning” for Triple J, presenting the song in a slightly slower, more subdued style. The release reflects Jacklin’s affection for the track and its connection to her childhood, while drawing attention to her forthcoming album.

Jacklin said she has loved the song since she was young and sees performing it as a way of connecting her present self with her younger one. Her next album, The Gem, is due on 25 September via 4AD; it was named after a Melbourne pub where she recorded it with her band.
