Watch KoRn’s Jonathan Davis join Yoshiki for soaring orchestral performance of ‘Freak On A Leash’
KoRn frontman Jonathan Davis joined Japanese musician Yoshiki on stage in Los Angeles for an unusual orchestral rendition of the nu-metal classic 'Freak On A Leash'. The performance saw Davis deliver a more restrained, melancholic vocal than in the original recording, building in intensity as the song progressed, while Yoshiki accompanied on piano before moving to drums.
The collaboration took place on Thursday 16 July, the first of two 'Yoshiki Classical' shows at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, which pair the X Japan leader with a full orchestra for reworked versions of well-known tracks. It follows other high-profile Yoshiki collaborations, including composing Hello Kitty's 50th anniversary theme in 2024. KoRn, meanwhile, released their first new music in four years in April with 'Reward The Scars' for Diablo IV, have reportedly written 40 songs for a new album, and are set to headline a UK and European tour later this year, their first run of shows in the region in over a decade.
