Developed over time first seen 5 days ago
President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump welcomed costumed children and their families to the White House on Thursday, 29 October 2026, for its annual Halloween celebration. The couple handed out sweets on the South Lawn. The Hill carried the event live shortly after Trump returned from a trip to South Carolina, where he had campaigned for Republicans ahead of the midterm elections.
The White House said the ticketed event ran from 3.30 pm to 7 pm and included military, law enforcement, foster and adoptive families, as well as administration officials’ children. Visitors could explore trick-or-treat booths and seasonal decorations, with music from US Air Force musicians. Government agencies and other organisations also provided activities and treats, ranging from miniature pumpkins to science kits. White House photographs subsequently confirmed that the president and first lady handed out sweets to children.
