Michael Anthony, Phil X and Kenny Aronoff performed Van Halen’s “Somebody Get Me A Doctor” and “I’m The One” at Guitar Center’s 2026 Drum Off finale in Los Angeles. The appearance helped mark the return of the drumming competition after almost a decade, highlighting both established rock musicians and emerging talent.

Six finalists, chosen from more than 2,600 submissions, competed at the Fonda Theatre after auditions began at over 300 Guitar Center stores. The winner received $25,000, professional drum equipment, a brand endorsement and career opportunities; Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo also performed with each finalist, while judges and guests included Tré Cool, Josh Freese, Brad Wilk and Adrian Young.
