A Texas police officer has been praised after bodycam and dashcam footage showed him pulling a driver from a car seconds before it burst into flames. Corporal Joshua Swisher was carrying out an unrelated traffic stop on a motorway when he noticed smoke coming from a nearby vehicle and directed it into the emergency lane, acting quickly enough to save the driver from potential serious injury or death.

The incident took place on 7 June, with flames erupting from underneath the car shortly after the driver had been guided to safety while he was still inside the vehicle. The footage of the rescue has only recently been released by authorities in the United States.
