Scotland’s charity regulator has cleared LGBT Youth Scotland of wrongdoing over its appointment of former chair Timothy Westwood, following allegations that parts of his CV were inaccurate. The finding matters because the controversy had raised questions about the charity’s recruitment and governance procedures, although the regulator concluded that it did not require further action against the organisation.

Westwood resigned in April after reports questioned claims that he had held senior roles at charities including the British Red Cross, Mind and Amnesty International; the organisations said they had no record of employing him. LGBT Youth Scotland said it investigated the claims and would strengthen trustee recruitment checks, while the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator assessed the matter and decided the charity itself had acted appropriately.
