Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield and singer-songwriter Kevin Morby have welcomed their first child together, a son born two weeks before his expected due date. Morby said he arrived home from a European tour only hours before Crutchfield’s waters broke, and described the baby as “perfect”.

The child was born on 21 July and had been due on 1 August; the couple have not shared his name. Crutchfield announced her pregnancy during an April tour date, while Morby will now miss a planned appearance at Bon Iver’s Eaux Claires festival in Wisconsin to remain with his family.
