Bare had heard Jennings’ song “Just To Satisfy You”, recorded his own version and performed it as a duet with him at JD’s in Phoenix, Arizona. In a 2026 interview, Bare said he knew the recommendation could harm his own career, but praised Jennings’ voice, stage presence and band; Atkins then contacted Jennings and offered him a deal.
