Waymo has removed the waitlist for its robotaxi service in Dallas, allowing anyone to download the app and immediately book a self-driving ride in the city. The move is the latest step in the Alphabet-owned company's push to expand its autonomous vehicle operations across the US, UK and Europe, and follows the same rollout pattern it has previously used in cities such as Phoenix, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Waymo began testing its technology on Dallas streets last year, partnering with Avis Budget Group to manage its fleet of electric, autonomous Jaguar I-Pace vehicles, with Avis overseeing charging and maintenance. The service opened to the public in February under a waitlist system, during which roughly 150,000 riders used the app; that restriction has now been lifted. Rides to Dallas Love Field Airport remain unavailable while testing continues there, and the service has previously been paused in Dallas and other Texas cities, as well as Atlanta, due to difficulties handling heavy rain and flooding, with Waymo warning that future weather-related disruptions are possible.
