Manchester United Women's captain, Maya Le Tissier, has said the squad will remain united and focused ahead of the new Women's Super League season following the departure of head coach Marc Skinner. Skinner, who led the club for five years and won the 2024 Women's FA Cup, told players of his exit in a meeting on Monday morning shortly before the news was made public, and both Le Tissier and England teammate Ella Toone praised his contribution and the manner in which he broke the news to the squad personally.

Le Tissier said she and Toone had not been consulted on Skinner's successor but understood an appointment would be made quickly, and stressed the club's continued commitment to developing young talent. She emphasised that the squad has weathered difficult moments before and always come through together, adding that the team is determined to be fully prepared for the start of the season despite the disruption occurring during pre-season.
