Zach Cregger has said he is developing a prequel to his horror film Weapons centred on the character Gladys, played by Amy Madigan. However, the project remains at the script stage and will not be his next film, meaning audiences are likely to wait several years for it.

Cregger gave the update during a San Diego Comic-Con panel, saying he was pleased with the script’s direction. He will first make a Resident Evil film and then the science-fiction thriller The Flood, which is scheduled for release on 11 August 2028. Weapons reportedly earned $270 million worldwide from a $38 million budget, while Madigan’s performance as Gladys received major awards recognition.
