Weezer’s Golden Era Has Arrived: Stream The ‘Gold Album’ Now

Billboard · 2 hours ago

Weezer have released their 20th studio album, the self-titled "Gold Album," continuing the band's tradition of colour-coded eras following previous releases dubbed Blue, Green, Red, White, Teal and Black. The record marks a return to a more traditional, collaborative songwriting process, with frontman Rivers Cuomo and drummer Pat Wilson developing songs together for the first time since their 1994 debut, following a well-received 30th-anniversary tour.

The 10-track album was produced by Klas Ahlund, who brought a "mathematical, stringent approach," and Kenneth Blume (formerly Kenny Beats), who aimed to make the "most violent Weezer album ever." Lead singles include "Shine Again" and "We Might As Well Be Strangers" featuring Wednesday, the latter performed live on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The band will tour in support of the album with the "Weezer: The Gathering" tour, starting in September across North America.
