A Wendy's restaurant manager in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, was sacked after a colleague accused her of tying a neurodivergent co-worker to a stove using bin bags, reportedly so she wouldn't have to "babysit" him. Coworker Nicholus Murphy filmed the man standing quietly with a bag tied around his ankle and passed the footage to a supervisor, prompting Wendy's operator Wendy's of Bowling Green to investigate and dismiss the manager, identified as Michiko Burton. The case has drawn attention for highlighting concerns over the treatment of neurodivergent employees in the workplace.

No criminal charges have been filed, as the victim told police he was unharmed and not upset, though Murphy said his colleague appeared sad while restrained. Burton reportedly told police her actions were inspired by a TikTok trend, a claim Murphy disputed. Wendy's of Bowling Green said the behaviour was "inconsistent with our values" and that it took "appropriate action" once informed, while the victim's family is now pushing police to reopen the case.
