‘We’re Going to Go a Bit Crazy’: Clair Obscur Dev Doesn’t Want to Hold Back on Its Next Game

Push Square · 4 hours ago

Sandfall Interactive CEO Guillaume Broche has hinted that the studio wants to take creative risks with its next project, following the success of its acclaimed debut RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Speaking to Automaton, Broche said the team wants to recapture the passion and fun they felt making Expedition 33 and let themselves "dream again" rather than play it safe, though he stressed it is far too early to reveal any concrete details about the new game.

Broche noted that Expedition 33 took roughly four to six years to develop depending on the team member, and the follow-up has not yet entered pre-production despite the studio now having "more than enough people" to begin. Sandfall currently employs 26 staff, and Broche said he wants to keep the team deliberately small, arguing that limitations breed creativity and focus, which he credits as key to what made Expedition 33 distinctive.
