‘We’re Totally Supporting It’ — Take-Two Boss Says Borderlands 4 Performance ‘Has Not Affected Our Plans at All’ as Fans Await Year 2 Roadmap
Take-Two chief executive Strauss Zelnick has said Borderlands 4's commercial performance has "not affected" the company's plans to continue supporting the game, insisting that Gearbox remains committed to further content. His comments come as fans await word on a "Year 2" roadmap, with some in the community wondering whether ongoing troubles for the looter shooter might prompt Gearbox to scale back support or shift focus elsewhere.
Borderlands 4 launched in September 2025 to over 300,000 concurrent players on Steam but has since fallen to four-figure peaks and sits on a "mixed" user rating, following severe PC performance issues that Zelnick previously admitted caused "a little bit of softness" in sales; a planned Nintendo Switch 2 version was also scrapped. Despite this, Zelnick said he was "thrilled" with the game's performance and reviews, pointing to confirmed content including Story Pack 2, Bounty Pack 5 and a new playable Vault Hunter, Loveless the Hacker, all arriving alongside the Version 1.10 update in early September, though no details on Year 2 plans have yet been announced.
