Nearly a year after four-year-old Gus Lamont disappeared from his family’s remote South Australian property, police have still not explained what they believe happened to him or publicly identified any suspect. The case remains significant because extensive searches have failed to find Gus or evidence that he simply wandered away, prompting investigators to treat the disappearance as a major crime.

Gus was last seen playing outside at Oak Park Station, about 40 kilometres south of Yunta, on 27 September 2025. Police have searched the property repeatedly, seized vehicles and electronic devices for forensic examination, and received hundreds of public reports, but no arrests have been made. Officers have said Gus’s parents are not suspects, while declining to provide fuller details about other people under investigation.
