What Happened to Modern Technology in Avatar: Seven Havens?

IGN ·

Six episodes into Avatar: Seven Havens, the series has begun to show why its world appears far less technologically advanced than the one seen in The Legend of Korra. The clues point to pockets of surviving technology, including radios and an electrical power grid, raising questions about what caused the wider collapse over the 225 years since Korra’s era.

An old radio found in Episode 5 appears to receive transmissions, while Chancellor Kayoko uses a more elaborate radio system to contact other Havens in Episode 6. Flickering lights and a generator suggest Ellora still has electricity, though its equipment seems relatively basic. The article proposes that the dangerous combination of spirit energy and technology, seen when Kuvira used spirit vines to power a massive cannon, may help explain the decline; the cause remains uncertain.

  • Radios and electricity still exist in Seven Havens.
  • The technology shown is far less advanced than in Korra’s era.
  • Spirit energy’s dangerous use may offer a clue to the collapse.
