What ‘Legend of Zelda’ Superfan Jon Batiste Thinks of ‘Ocarina of Time’ Remake and the Game’s Iconic Score

Jon Batiste has shared an early, unfinished impression of the new *The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time* remake, saying it preserves the original’s essence while introducing some welcome surprises. His comments add a prominent fan’s perspective to the positive initial critical response, although it is too soon to know how players will receive the game.

Released Thursday for Nintendo Switch 2, the remake revisits the 1998 Nintendo 64 adventure in which Link protects Hyrule from Ganondorf. Batiste says the original expanded his idea of what games could be by blending open-world role-playing and action-adventure elements. He also singled out Koji Kondo’s score, which helped inspire him to play music on instruments.
