Ashley Williams, Wales’ former captain, has joined Craig Bellamy’s coaching staff ahead of Nations League matches against Portugal, Denmark and Norway. Bellamy believes the 42-year-old’s leadership, experience and understanding of the game can strengthen a young squad and help Wales move towards qualifying for Euro 2028.

Williams won 86 caps, captaining Wales for more than half of them, and played in the team’s run to the Euro 2016 semi-finals. He replaces James Rowberry alongside Alan Sheehan, following the departures of Rowberry and analyst Piet Cremers, while Bellamy says the new appointments will bring fresh perspectives and a different dynamic.
