What’s It Going to Take for Steve Carell to Finally Win an Emmy?

Variety · 6 hours ago

Steve Carell has received his 12th career Emmy nomination this year, for lead actor in a comedy series for HBO Max's "Rooster," yet remains without a single win. The nomination puts him second on the all-time list of most Emmy nominations without a victory, behind only the late Angela Lansbury, highlighting what Variety describes as one of the most persistent oversights in the awards' history.

Carell's nomination tally spans "The Office," where he was nominated as lead actor for nearly every season he appeared in (2006–2011) and as a producer when the show itself was nominated for best comedy, as well as later dramatic work such as "The Morning Show" and "The Patient." Colleagues including director Paul Feig and "The Office" co-star Creed Bratton have publicly lamented the snub, with Feig suggesting Carell's naturalistic style may work against him with voters, while Bratton called it "a travesty."

  • Steve Carell earns 12th Emmy nomination, still no wins.
  • Second-most nominations without a win, after Angela Lansbury.
  • Nomination is for HBO Max comedy "Rooster."
