Jackie, a bald eagle who has become an internet sensation through the Big Bear Eagle Nest Cam in California, is in "critical" condition after being diagnosed with anaemia. The eagle, watched by millions alongside her partner Shadow via the live-streaming project run by nonprofit Friends of Big Bear Valley, is now receiving veterinary treatment away from the nest, prompting concern among her large online following.

Jackie is currently being cared for at the Ojai Raptor Center. Although she had shown signs of improvement in her anaemia last week, her packed cell volume has since fallen to 13%, down from 17%, indicating her condition has worsened rather than continued to recover.
