Marvel Studios has confirmed that Ryan Gosling will play Ghost Rider in an upcoming MCU film, announced by studio president Kevin Feige at San Diego Comic-Con. The project will be directed by Shawn Levy, best known for Deadpool & Wolverine, and is scheduled for release in 2028, marking Ghost Rider's return to cinema screens for the first time since 2011's Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance starring Nicolas Cage.

Marvel did not reveal which version of Ghost Rider Gosling will portray, sparking speculation given that several characters have held the mantle in the comics. Johnny Blaze, a motorcycle stuntman who made a deal with the devil, is the most famous and widely expected candidate, having featured in both Nicolas Cage films. However, the ambiguity has also fuelled interest in alternatives such as Danny Ketch, a teenager who inherited the powers after a supernatural encounter in 1990, with some fans noting that a story pairing Blaze and Ketch could suit a modern MCU take.
