Marli Renfro, a 21-year-old Playboy model, was Janet Leigh’s body double for the nude moments in the shower scene in Alfred Hitchcock’s *Psycho*. The distinction matters because Renfro is often confused with Myra Davis, who helped as a stand-in and was murdered decades later.
Renfro was paid $500 and also doubled for shots of Marion’s body being moved to a car boot; she had a small later acting role in *Tonight for Sure*. Davis wore a flesh-coloured leotard while the crew tested lighting and camera setups. The scene’s rapid cuts, black-and-white photography and chocolate syrup used as blood helped create its effects.
