More than 200 dogs and their owners took part in a day of swimming at the heated outdoor pool in Gourock, Renfrewshire, before it closed for winter. The annual Doggy Dip gives people and pets a chance to swim together, and one owner said the warm water made the experience enjoyable for her dog and for her.

Facilities manager Mark McFarlane started the sessions in 2019, initially with one swim at the end of the season. They have since expanded, with all sessions sold out; organisers expected about 240 people and 240 dogs over the day. McFarlane said some dogs are nervous at first but tend to enjoy the swim once they get into the water.
