Why Cage the Elephant’s New ‘Dying in Reverse’ Song Will Fit ‘So Naturally’ in Their Munich NFL Halftime Show

Billboard · 2 hours ago

Cage the Elephant have released a new track, "Dying in Reverse," and confirmed it will feature in their headline halftime performance at the NFL's international fixture between the Detroit Lions and New England Patriots in Munich on 15 November. Frontman Matthew Shultz told Billboard the song's themes of suspended time and shared experience make it a natural fit for sport, where fans and athletes alike create fleeting but memorable moments. The song, which premiered on Zane Lowe's Apple Music show with a visualiser directed by Shultz, also appears on the EA Sports FC 27 soundtrack, due out 25 September.

The release follows the Kentucky band's July single "Beaches in Tennessee," their seventh number one on Billboard's Rock & Alternative Airplay chart after signing with Big Loud Rock. Shultz also reflected on last year's stint opening for Oasis on the North American leg of their Live '25 reunion tour, calling it hugely inspiring and one of the band's career highlights. Cage the Elephant will tour Europe in 2027, opening in Berlin on 8 February and closing in London on 1 March.
