Why you shouldn’t remove the screen protector film on your Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo says Switch 2 owners should leave the adhesive film fitted to the console’s screen. It is designed to help contain glass shards if the screen breaks, so removing it could expose users to shards and compromise a part of the console’s intended construction.
The article says the film is difficult to remove and is different from a conventional screen protector, which guards against scratches and cosmetic damage. For extra scratch protection, owners can add a separate protector, including Nintendo’s HORI-made option or a third-party tempered glass model. The console launched at $450, or $500 in a Mario Kart World bundle, and its standard price has since risen to $500.
In short
- Leave the Switch 2’s built-in adhesive film in place.
- It helps contain shards if the screen breaks.
- Add a separate protector for scratch resistance.
