Widower Democrat, 70, is arrested for slapping young Republican in the face during spat at polls

A 70-year-old man was arrested after video appeared to show him slapping an 18-year-old who was campaigning for the conservative group Turning Point Action outside a polling place in Laconia, New Hampshire. Police are investigating the incident, which has drawn condemnation from both local Republican and Democratic committees.

Police identified the man as Stephen Redic and charged him with misdemeanor simple assault and violation-level disorderly conduct. The confrontation took place on Election Day at Woodland Heights School; the video shows Redic arguing with the teenager, making an obscene gesture and striking him before walking away. Redic is due to be arraigned in Laconia on 10 December.
