The wife and daughter of mountaineer Paul Blelock Samuel, who died in a Peruvian avalanche in 2018, are engaged in a bitter High Court battle over his £10 million estate. Eight years after his death, the family remains embroiled in disputes over asset distribution, with Kate Samuel and her lawyers seeking to remove his widow Ana as executor of the will, alleging she has caused delays and obstruction.

Mr Samuel's will stipulated that his wealth—which included the £780,000 Bank Farm in Shropshire and other assets—should be divided equally between Ana, his partner, and Kate, his daughter from a previous relationship. The two women, described as "not close" even before his death, have contested matters including the valuation of estate assets and the administration process. To date, Kate has received a £1 million payout and Ana has been given the farm and another property, but the pair continue to dispute how remaining assets should be handled, with a previous High Court hearing in 2023 failing to resolve the ongoing disagreement.
