Will Zalatoris set to miss all of 2027 PGA Tour season due to yet another back surgery: ‘Four years of hell’
Will Zalatoris is expected to miss the entire 2027 PGA Tour season after undergoing spinal-fusion surgery later this month. The 30-year-old says he hopes the operation will address persistent back problems after several years of setbacks.
He is due to play in the Austin Championship from 12 November before the surgery, which will be his third back operation since 2023. Zalatoris made 22 Tour starts in 2024 but only 15 across the past two seasons, including four in 2026; he has fallen outside the world’s top 600 and hopes to return at full strength in 2028.

Will Zalatoris is an American professional golfer who competes on the PGA Tour, the main men’s golf circuit in the United States. Players earn results and ranking points by competing in tournaments, and injuries can make it difficult to keep a place among the leading golfers.
Back problems have repeatedly interrupted Zalatoris’s career since 2023, limiting how often he can play. A spinal fusion is an operation intended to stabilise part of the spine, and it would be his third back surgery in that period.
