Wales manager Craig Bellamy has strengthened his backroom staff by appointing former captain Ashley Williams and ex-Swansea City boss Alan Sheehan as assistant coaches ahead of the team's Nations League campaign. It marks a first senior coaching role for Williams, while Sheehan brings recent head coaching experience following his departure from Swansea. The moves come after two other members of Bellamy's staff left their positions in recent months.

Williams, 42, won 86 caps for Wales and captained the side during their run to the Euro 2016 semi-finals; he holds a Uefa A Licence and has previously coached at Wales age-group level. Sheehan, 39, was sacked as Swansea head coach in November 2025 and had earlier worked as an assistant at Swansea, Southampton and Luton Town. They replace James Rowberry, who stepped down due to his commitments at Stoke City, and Piet Cremers, who left in July to take charge of Club Brugge's youth side. Wales begin their Nations League A campaign away to Portugal on 24 September before facing Denmark on 27 September, with Bellamy set to name his squad on 15 September.
