With Pokémon in Fortnite Seemingly Off the Table, Palworld Looks Likely to Crossover Instead

IGN · 3 hours ago

Palworld appears set to become the latest game to crossover with Fortnite, while a much-rumoured Pokémon partnership still seems out of reach. The speculation follows Epic Games adding Palworld to Fortnite's in-game survey tool, which is often used to gauge player interest ahead of collaborations, shortly after Pocketpair's head of publishing John "Bucky" Buckley had publicly invited Epic to reach out about a potential tie-up.

Buckley first floated the idea in January and this week posted a coyly worded follow-up asking fans which new Pal they would want to see as a skin, while insisting he was speaking only "theoretically, hypothetically, conceptually and spiritually." Fortnite has previously crossed over with franchises including Resident Evil, Street Fighter and Halo, and leaks suggest its next season will lean heavily into gaming crossovers with titles such as Sonic and Persona. The current season's creature-catching Sprites feature makes a Palworld tie-in a natural fit, whereas Nintendo and Pokémon remain notably absent from Fortnite, reportedly due to Nintendo's past reluctance; meanwhile Palworld's recent 1.0 update quietly altered some Pal designs to look less like Pokémon, even as a new whale-like Pal has drawn fresh comparisons.
