The dispute appears to have been fuelled by Saber's recent marketing campaign for Rideshare Simulator, which contained what industry observers identified as deliberate jabs at Pitchford. The trailer featured subtle references designed to mock the Gearbox leader, including wordplay about an eccentric passenger character and a license plate containing coded initials paired with a cogwheel symbol. Saber's CEO later confirmed the intent of these references when questioned about them.
