The Women's National Basketball Players Association has said it did not ask the WNBA to scrap a plan to place "USA 250" patches on All-Star Game uniforms, despite one of the union's own elected officers publicly criticising the idea. The clarification came after reports suggested players were pushing back against the patches, which had been due to feature on jerseys for Saturday's All-Star Game in Chicago, prompting the union to set the record straight in a statement to the press.

The row followed a report from Sportico that the patches would appear on the All-Star uniforms, after which, according to the WNBPA, members of player leadership contacted the league for clarification rather than to demand the patches' removal. The union's statement was issued to OutKick and Fox News Digital in response to public objections raised by one of its officers, distancing the wider players' body from that individual's stance.
