Wolverine: Origin III Explores Marvel’s Controversial Prequel Arc

IGN · 4 hours ago

Marvel is releasing "Wolverine: Origin III – The Dark Age," the third instalment in the publisher's series exploring the pre-superhero life of Logan/James Howlett. Original "Origin" writer Paul Jenkins returns for the new arc, alongside artist CAFU, continuing a saga that began in 2001 by revealing Wolverine's true identity and troubled past, and which also inspired the 2009 film "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

The new series is set after the Second World War, moving beyond the 19th-century Canadian setting of the original and the early 20th-century backdrop of 2013's "Origin II." It follows Logan as he seeks peace after years of conflict, aided by a young doctor, while hinting that his past and the events leading to Weapon X will resurface. Issue #1 features covers by Wes Burt and Josemaria Casanovas, and the series is due in comic shops on 16 December.
