Sussex Police arrested a 40-year-old woman on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after a suspected acid attack left a 40-year-old man requiring hospital treatment in Crawley, West Sussex. Emergency services were called to the scene on Sunday morning, and the road was temporarily closed as officers and paramedics dealt with the incident, which police described as involving a "chemical substance".

The incident occurred at an address in Fletcher Close, Southgate, Crawley, at around 5.10am on Sunday 13 September. The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment, while the arrested woman was also taken to hospital as a precaution. Police cordoned off part of the road while emergency services remained at the scene, and enquiries into the circumstances continue.
