Woman dies at Tesco as air ambulance rushes to supermarket and shoppers evacuated

A woman in her 50s died after a medical emergency at a Tesco supermarket on Silk Street in Rochdale. Emergency services attended, and shoppers were asked to leave while crews responded.

Greater Manchester Police said they were called at about 3.05pm after a concern was raised for the woman’s welfare. Store staff initially helped her before paramedics arrived; an air ambulance, rapid response vehicle and road ambulance also attended. Her next of kin have been informed, but her identity and the nature of the emergency have not been disclosed.
