Beth Hackman, a 25-year-old from Windsor, Berkshire, has earned £3,000 by selling more than 600 unwanted items of clothing on the resale app Vinted, using the proceeds to fund her move to Sydney, Australia, where she now works as a physiotherapist. She said the money covered her flight, visa and accommodation, and encouraged others to declutter unused possessions when saving towards a major life goal, arguing that many people underestimate how much their old clothes could be worth.

Among the items she sold were gym wear, dresses, her brother's old prom suit and a pair of Alexander McQueen trainers that fetched £200. Beth, who says she has become more conscious of fast fashion and now buys mostly second-hand, also shared tips for other sellers: taking clear photos against a clean background (sometimes using a mannequin), writing detailed descriptions, posting items quickly to build good reviews, and being willing to negotiate on price rather than holding out for full value.
