A woman was found dead inside a home in Bacchus Marsh, north-west of Melbourne, in the early hours of Wednesday morning, prompting a homicide investigation. A 75-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is now under police guard in hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. Victoria Police say the two people involved are known to each other, and officers are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with the death.

Emergency services were called to the property on Connor Street shortly after 3.30am. The woman has not yet been formally identified, and a crime scene has been established while homicide detectives examine the circumstances surrounding her death.
