Woman in her 30s ‘is raped in GP surgery car park’: Four men are arrested

Daily Mail ·

A woman in her 30s reported being sexually assaulted in the car park of the Great Western Surgery in Swindon in the early hours of Tuesday. Four men have been arrested on suspicion of rape and released on conditional bail while Wiltshire Police investigate; officers say they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the case.

The suspects are aged 19, 20 and 21, with two aged 21. A police cordon forced the surgery to close temporarily, and patients’ appointments were moved to two other practices run by the same group. Police are seeking witnesses and asking nearby residents and motorists to check CCTV or dashcam footage.

Swindon is a town in Wiltshire, in south-west England. The Great Western Surgery is a local GP practice, where patients receive routine medical care; its car park is separate from the work of investigating a reported crime.

Wiltshire Police investigate suspected crimes in the county and can arrest people while making enquiries. An arrest on suspicion of an offence is not a finding of guilt, and the case is still under investigation.

Police may ask witnesses or people with nearby CCTV or dashcam footage to share information that could help establish what happened. A police cordon can temporarily restrict access to a site, affecting local services and appointments.
