Multiple riders on the X2 rollercoaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California have suffered severe brain injuries in recent months, prompting lawsuits against the park. Naomi Greer-Wilkinson, 25, collapsed after riding in July and remains hospitalised on a ventilator with traumatic brain damage; over 100 people have come forward alleging they sustained serious brain injuries on the ride. Lawyers claim the park has known about the dangers for years.

Another rider, Pamela Guillen, suffered severe brain bleeding six days before Greer-Wilkinson and required emergency brain surgery in which surgeons removed part of her skull to relieve pressure; she spent a month in hospital and continues to experience daily headaches and fatigue. The X2, which reaches speeds of nearly 80 miles per hour and flips seats 360 degrees, has been closed since 12 July. Hospital staff reportedly expressed alarm at the number of similar injuries, with one surgeon stating in the emergency room: "How many is it this month?"
