Woody Harrelson will receive the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo at the 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival, with organisers praising his "outstanding contribution to the film industry and an exceptional acting career." To mark the honour, the festival will screen Michael Winterbottom's 1997 film "Welcome to Sarajevo," in which Harrelson stars alongside Stephen Dillane and Marisa Tomei; the film examines the Bosnian war and journalists' coverage of it, based on Michael Nicholson's book "Natasha's Story." The award follows earlier announcements that the festival will close with a restored version of Danis Tanović's Oscar-winning "No Man's Land" and that Bosnian actor Emir Hadžihafizbegović will also receive the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo.

Festival director Jovan Marjanović praised Harrelson's "remarkable ease of performance," citing his Oscar nominations for "The People vs. Larry Flynt," "The Messenger" and "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri," plus his role in Ruben Östlund's Palme d'Or winner "Triangle of Sadness." Harrelson has upcoming roles in Apple TV's "Brothers" with Matthew McConaughey (premiering 23 September) and Quentin Dupieux's "Full Phil" opposite Kristen Stewart, and has recently wrapped Netflix's "The Cackling of the Dodos" with Sam Rockwell. The 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival runs from 14 to 21 August.
