WoW: Forever is the biggest launch in World of Warcraft history, says Blizzard
World of Warcraft: Forever has set a new launch record for the MMO, with more concurrent players than any previous WoW launch. Blizzard said the release also drew a record number of returning players, making the launch notable both for re-engaging former players and attracting newcomers.
The edition launched on 4 November, and Blizzard announced the records on 7 November. Executive producer Holly Longdale said it had brought in more new players than any WoW launch in 15 years. Blizzard has not published player totals; a first major hotfix, including a fix for a battleground bug that favoured the Horde, arrived on Friday.
