Wreckreation 2 Announced Despite Studio Closure, Just Nine Months After the Original Arrived
Video game industry veteran Fiona Sperry has announced a sequel to Wreckreation, the arcade racing game that launched in 2025 to lukewarm audience reception. The announcement follows the dissolution of original developer Three Fields Entertainment, whose entire staff received redundancy notice immediately after the game's release, with publisher THQ Nordic withdrawing further support.
The sequel will be developed by a newly established studio called When Tides Turn, composed primarily of former Three Fields employees. Wreckreation 2 is designed to address its predecessor's shortcomings by featuring a more geographically compact world with expanded urban areas, bringing its design philosophy closer to Burnout Paradise. Currently three months into development with no specified launch window, the game is slated for PC and current-generation PlayStation and Xbox hardware. The original received critical feedback for imprecise vehicle physics and repetitive mission variety set across a monotonous rural environment.
