Wrexham are closing in on the signing of Crystal Palace defender Danny Imray, who is set to become the club's first signing of the summer. The versatile 23-year-old, who can play at full-back or right wing-back, is expected to complete his move to north Wales as manager Phil Parkinson looks to strengthen his wing-back options following Issa Kabore's return to parent club Manchester City.

Imray joined Palace from Chelmsford City in 2021 but was immediately loaned back before spending last season on loan at Blackpool and West Bromwich Albion, featuring 17 times for the Baggies including in a 2-2 draw with Wrexham in April. He has yet to make a senior appearance for Palace and played in their 3-0 friendly defeat by Bromley on Saturday, but is expected to be omitted from their pre-season Como Cup squad in Italy. Having made 13 signings last summer after winning automatic promotion, Wrexham are not planning wholesale changes this year, though a goalkeeper, centre-back, central midfielder and forward remain potential targets alongside Imray.
