WTFN Merges Fred Media & Digital Arm Radar To Form Australian Studios Business
Australian producer WTFN Group has consolidated its television distribution arm Fred Media and digital division Radar into a single integrated business called Radar Studios, which will debut at MIPCOM Cannes next month. This restructuring reflects a broader industry shift towards consolidated production and distribution operations, as independent producers increasingly recognise the value of deep content catalogues and intellectual property ownership amid content supply challenges.
The new entity, led by Derek Dyson (Chief Commercial Officer), combines FAST and digital channels operations with both in-house and third-party content distribution, plus a dedicated content division for acquisitions, development and original productions. Jamie I will serve as APAC Sales & Acquisitions Lead, whilst consultant Kate Llewellyn-Jones continues overseeing content strategy; the company has recently established a new investment fund and is developing what Dyson describes as "game-changing concepts" under the guidance of Head of Development Michael McDermott and Chief Creative Officer Steve Oemcke.
