Wuthering Waves is getting an anime as its developer establishes Kuro Onroad

Polygon · 6 hours ago

Kuro Games, the developer behind the gacha action-RPG Wuthering Waves, has announced an anime adaptation titled Wuthering Waves: Elysium. It marks the first project under Kuro Onroad, a new animation-focused banner the studio is establishing for future adaptations of its games, signalling a longer-term commitment to expanding the franchise beyond its original medium.

Details remain limited: the announcement trailer shows only 3D animation featuring characters from the game, and Kuro Onroad describes it simply as "based on the world of Wuthering Waves," without confirming whether it retells existing lore or reinterprets characters. It's also unclear if an outside studio is involved. The project joins a wave of game-to-anime adaptations, including an upcoming Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice film and a Ghost of Tsushima: Legends series, and puts Kuro Games in indirect competition with rival Genshin Impact's long-delayed Ufotable anime, announced in 2022. No release date has been set for Elysium.
