WWE star Cody Rhodes, others hunt for John Cena in Clash of Clans, recalls why legend was booted from group
WWE star Cody Rhodes has teamed up with John Cena and other wrestlers for a second promotional crossover with the mobile game Clash of Clans, a title Cena introduced Rhodes to roughly a decade ago. The "Search for Cena" event challenges the game's global player base to locate and raid Cena's in-game village before it ends on 30 September, playing on the long-running personal history between the two performers within the Clash of Clans community.
Rhodes explained that he originally joined Clash of Clans through a clan led by Cena, who was eventually removed for what Rhodes described as domineering behaviour, prompting Rhodes to help found a rival clan that still operates today. Cena, in a press statement, said the pair's real rivalry began in the game rather than the wrestling ring, referencing being ousted from Rhodes's team years earlier. The promotion also features a new in-game "Barbarian King" skin modelled on Rhodes, alongside a commercial appearance from WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels.
