Marvel has confirmed that the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants will return in X-Men ’97’s third season, following their absence from the revival so far. The Comic-Con reveal suggests the series will continue exploring conflict between mutants and the US government after the X-Men’s expected confrontation with Apocalypse.

A preview clip showed Pyro, Avalanche, Blob and Toad writing “mutant freedom” graffiti, joined by teenage electricity-powered mutant Surge. They are then attacked by a patriotic blue Sentinel variant; Marvel said Season 3 animation is nearly complete and Season 4 animatics are under way, pointing to a possible 2027 release for Season 3.
