Xbox Explains What Makes A Game An Xbox Exclusive

GameSpot · 2 months ago

Xbox has said it will rebuild a reliable pipeline of exclusive games to help grow its platform, while continuing to decide each title’s availability individually. The approach matters because Microsoft has recently released more first-party games on rival consoles, creating uncertainty over what “Xbox exclusive” now means.

Chief strategy officer Matthew Ball said Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will be exclusive to Xbox Series X|S and PC, but are only the first planned titles. Large live-service games will remain multiplatform, and some single-player games may also reach PlayStation 5; Halo: Campaign Evolved and Fable are already due to launch there alongside Xbox and PC versions.

  • Xbox plans more console exclusives.
  • Decisions will be made game by game.
  • Live-service games remain multiplatform.
