Xbox Officially Implements Mandatory 18+ Age Verification
Microsoft has introduced mandatory age verification for Australian Xbox users seeking to access or download content rated 18+. The measure is intended to comply with Australia’s Age Restricted Material Online Safety Codes and could make access to digital game stores more burdensome for affected players.
Users may verify their age through email checks, facial age estimation, official-document scans or credit-card verification. Microsoft had alerted existing Australian users in July, has already introduced comparable checks in the UK under the Online Safety Act, and says there are currently no plans for a US rollout.
